Despite of challenges caused by the worldwide financial crisis and the decline of society membership, Division X membership remains relatively stable. But many of our members are being negatively impacted on their job and income. IEEE must recognize member difficulties and help to improve their conditions. Severe competition in conferences and publications, and the global demand for better technology and environment must also be addressed. As Division X Delegate/Director, I pledge to promote collaboration between our societies and councils to: Maintain our world leadership in the technical fields represented by Division X Increase joint activities between societies and sections such as conference organization Improve IEEE efficiencies that control costs and dues Develop effective programs for recruitment and retention of student and GOLD (Graduates of the Last Decade) membership Explore, nurture and champion emerging technologies Implement mechanisms to deal with rapidly growing problems that threaten the quality of our conferences and publications Maximize sharing of “Best Practices” for member benefits I will appreciate your support and your vote. Qualification: Leadership positions in SMC including President, Board of Governor, VP, Technical Committee and chapter Chairs Experiences in running technical programs and production of conference proceedings of many IEEE and non-IEEE sponsored conferences TAB committee service Demonstrated administrative skill (12 years as department head, 2 years as society president and lead organizers for many conferences) Active researcher 10 years US industrial experiences Visiting professorship in China, UK, Australia, Italy, Taiwan, Korea and Macau
